Privacy policy
The short version: I collect what you type into the contact form, plus anonymous stats about which pages get visited and a replay of how people move around the site. I don’t sell anything to anyone, and I don’t send marketing emails.
What I collect
When you fill in the contact form: your name, your email address, your business name and website if you give them, the rough budget you pick, and whatever you write in the message box.
When you visit any page: two analytics tools, Google Analytics and PostHog, record anonymous information like which pages you looked at, roughly which part of the world you’re in, and what sort of device you used. Neither one knows your name.
A replay of your visit: PostHog also records what happens on screen while you’re here, so I can watch it back later. That means where you moved the mouse, what you clicked, and how far you scrolled. It’s the same information as the stats above, just as a video instead of a number.
What it does not record: anything you type into a form. Every text box on this site is blanked out before the recording leaves your browser, so your name, your email address and your message are never in it. Those reach me through the form itself, not through the recording.
Why
Contact form details, so I can reply to you. That’s the whole reason.
Analytics, so I know which pages are worth keeping and which ones nobody reads.
The replays, so I can see where the site is confusing people. If everyone scrolls past the same section or gives up at the same spot, that’s me needing to fix the page, and a number on its own won’t tell me what to fix.
Where it goes
Form submissions pass through Formspree, a form service based in the United States, and then land in my email inbox, which runs on Google Workspace. Analytics data and the session replays go to Google Analytics and PostHog, both also in the United States.
Both of those are outside Australia. If that bothers you, email me or ring me directly instead of using the form. Either is completely fine.
Who else sees it
Nobody. I don’t sell, rent or share your details with anyone. I’m one person, not an agency with a sales team.
How long I keep it
Enquiry emails stay in my inbox. If you want yours deleted, ask me and I’ll delete it.
Cookies
Google Analytics and PostHog each set a cookie so they can tell whether you’re a returning visitor. You can block cookies in your browser settings and this site still works normally.
Your details, your call
Ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email ben@kindredwebdesign.com.au and I’ll sort it out, usually within a few days.
Complaints
If you’re not happy with how I’ve handled your information, tell me first and give me a chance to fix it. If that doesn’t sort it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner takes complaints at oaic.gov.au.
